• Top food and beverage industry events in 2027 (fooddive.com) — Manhattan Beach will host a two-day beverage industry gathering at the Westdrift hotel April 27–28, giving local hospitality and food-and-drink professionals a chance to connect with major brands and innovators. The conference, run by LA Libations, is one of several top national food and beverage events spotlighted for 2027, emphasizing trends in functional drinks, wellness, and new product development.
   

• Bacteria Warnings Issued for Several LA County Beaches (iheart.com) — If you're heading to Manhattan Beach to cool off, county health officials are warning people to stay out of the ocean within 100 yards of the pier because of elevated bacteria levels. Several other South Bay and Westside beaches are also affected, though conditions have improved at Paradise Cove. You can check the latest closures anytime via the county's beach hotline or website.
   

• Treasure hunter sues USC, Trojans men's basketball coach Eric Musselman over beach altercation (newsbreak.com) — A lawsuit has been filed over an alleged verbal altercation on the sand in Manhattan Beach between treasure hunter Gary Gosnell and USC men's basketball coaches Eric Musselman and Will Conroy. Gosnell claims the confrontation during a team photoshoot caused serious emotional distress and aggravated prior PTSD, and he is seeking damages from both coaches and USC for allegedly failing to supervise Musselman.
