Patch Editor MIA: Volunteering for the Day

We apologize if Manhattan Beach Patch is a bit light on content today. But we hope you'll agree we have a pretty good excuse.

Your dedicated Patch editor is taking an afternoon away from Patch to volunteer in the community.

I'll be spending some quality hours volunteering at the Manhattan Beach Library, reshelving returned books, refilling the copy machines—whatever is needed, really.

All Patch editors are volunteering in their cities as part of AOL's "Give5/Monster Help Day," a day when all employees are given paid time to spend as much of the day as possible out in the field, volunteering in their communities. It's a day of service to recognize AOL's 25th anniversary.

Regional Patch Editor Sara Catania, who oversees operations for the Southern California Patch sites, will be donating her time to local nonprofit GrowingGreat.
