Probationer Behind Bars, Accused of Swiping Package in Front of South Bay Home

A security camera caught the suspected thief in the act as he was seen walking by and then doubling back to steal the package.

A 32-year-old man who was already on probation was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of stealing a Christmas package from the porch of a Carson home.

Gabriel Martinez of Carson allegedly stole a package from the porch of a home in the 400 block of West 224th Street on Dec. 14, according to LA Sheriff’s Detective Mark Pope.

Following up on leads, detectives from the sheriff’s Carson Station served a search warrant at Martinez’s residence Tuesday and discovered multiple stolen items in his possession, Pope said.
