Stolen Car Suspect Arrested With Help Of License Plate Reader

The Automated License Plate Reader notified Manhattan Beach police of a stolen vehicle that entered city limits, police said.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – The Manhattan Beach Police Department arrested a suspect in a stolen vehicle thanks to their Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR), they announced Tuesday. On May 21 at approximately 11 a.m., MBPD patrol officers received an alert from the ALPR of a stolen Chevy Blazer which entered Manhattan Beach on Highland Avenue.

Officers found the stolen vehicle and initiated a high risk traffic stop in the 1300 block of Highland Ave, police said.

The suspect, who is on probation for stealing cars, was taken into custody and booked at the MBPD jail; the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner, MBPD said.
