Surf Continues to Build

Start your weekend today if you can.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, it definitely picked up out there. So, if you're getting a jumpstart to your weekend, then go grab a session!

The conditions are starting off nice and groomed, with a mix of some modest west northwest swell, some northwest energy and minimal southerly swell in the background. That recipe is offering some fast semi-walled lines, with some good wedgy shoulders to pick off.

Most Manhattan Beach spots are running about waist to shoulder high, with the focal points pulling head high waves, with some overhead sets.

Unfortunately, we're still dealing with those extreme tides...so if you can... you'll want to paddle out once the tide has dropped a bit, but before it drains out too much.

At 9:26 this morning it pushes up to a 5.4 high which will have some spots off to a slow start. The tide then drops to a negative 0.3 low at 4:07 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

If you're going to get wet, you'll want to throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
