Suspect Arrested In String Of Manhattan Beach Vehicle Burglaries

Police say the suspect was captured on video surveillance using credit cards stolen from the vehicle burglaries.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA – The Manhattan Beach Police Department arrested a vehicle burglary suspect involved in a string of window smash burglaries, it was announced Tuesday. After an investigation into several car burglaries in Manhattan Beach from July 12-19, Camille Palmer Fortune, of Los Angeles, was identified as the suspect and was arrested, MBPD said.

Police say the 20-year-old suspect was captured on video surveillance using credit cards stolen from the vehicle burglaries. MBPD conducted undercover surveillance of the suspect, and she was arrested at a traffic stop on July 21.

During a search of her vehicle, a hammer was found that police believe to be the burglary tool used to commit the vehicle burglaries. She was booked at the MBPD jail, the press release said.

On July 24, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of burglary, two counts of vandalism, one count of shoplifting, one count of possession of burglary tools, and one count of fraudulent use of a credit card. She's currently in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail and her bail is set at $65,000.
