MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — For the first time since the 1930s, Southern California will be hit by a tropical storm that will bring heavy rains and flood risks to Manhattan Beach.
The National Weather Service predicted that up to 7 inches of rain will fall and winds will reach up to 50 mph along the coast and 60 mph across mountains.
“To put this into historical perspective, the last time a tropical storm has made landfall in southern California was 1939,” NWS said. “Significant strong wind, flooding, and high surf impacts will be possible from Hilary across our forecast area.”
