Unattended Bag Prompted Bomb Scare at Southbay Metro Train Yard
The bomb squad determined the bag did not contain explosives and was entirely safe.

The discovery of a suspicious package tonight on a Metro Green Line train led to the evacuation of the Metro train yard in Hawthorne, but the package was determined to be safe, an LA Metro spokesman said.
The incident began when a Green Line train pulled into the Hawthorne train yard at 14724 Aviation Blvd. at about 8:15 p.m., LA Metro spokesman Paul Gonzales said.
“A member of a cleaning crew noticed a suspicious package on the train and notified his supervisor,” Gonzales said. “The supervisor called the sheriff’s department and about 30 to 40 people were evacuated from the train yard at around 8:55 p.m.”
