Veterans Day 2017: What's Closed, What's Open In Manhattan
A look at what's happening on Veterans Day 2017.

MANHATTAN, IL — Veterans Day this year is Saturday, Nov. 11, and events will be held in some nearby communities to honor those who have served. Some government offices will be closed on Friday in observance of the weekend holiday, along with some local schools schools — including those in Lincoln-Way Community High School District. Manhattan School District 114 schools have early release scheduled for Friday.
What's open and closed on Veterans Day:
- Banks: Most are closed. Call your bank if you're thinking of stopping by.
- Post Offices: Closed
- Federal Offices: Closed
- Local Government Offices: Most Closed Friday
- Trash Pickup: Normal
- Most restaurants will be open, some will offer discount to active military personnel and veterans.
