Manteca leaders award bid to replace aging sewer main (mantecabulletin.com) — Manteca is moving ahead with a $6.9 million project to replace a key aging sewer trunk line that carries most of the city’s wastewater north of the 120 Bypass. The new, deeper 36-inch pipe near the golf course will boost capacity, cut pumping costs, and avoid road closures or detours while being one of the first projects funded by recent wastewater rate hikes.

2. SR 99/120 Interchange opens with new safety, roadway improvements (turlockjournal.com) — Drivers in and around Manteca now have a safer, wider SR 99/120 interchange, with new lanes, a modern Austin Road bridge, and upgraded surface streets. Rep. Josh Harder and Manteca Mayor Gary Singh joined regional leaders to celebrate the project, which aims to ease congestion and improve daily commutes for thousands of Valley residents.

Powers left mark on ag as well as on Manteca (mantecabulletin.com) — More than a century ago, Ed Powers helped turn Manteca into the “Watermelon Capital of the World” and later shaped its schools, banking, and postwar neighborhoods. From launching the first telephone system to developing Powers Tract and attracting Spreckels Sugar, his legacy still touches streets, parks, and landmarks Manteca residents know today.

Manteca Rays down Ripon in Little League TOC elimination game (mantecabulletin.com) — Manteca’s Rays Little League team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and held off the Ripon Dodgers for a 16-8 Tournament of Champions elimination win at Northgate Little League. With big bats from Julian Rodriguez, Tino Marinakis, and others plus strong pitching, Manteca now faces the Tracy A’s this morning in the District 67 consolation final.

San Joaquin RTD leadership turnover continues months after CEO firing (stocktonia.org) — Leadership turmoil at San Joaquin RTD could indirectly affect bus riders in Manteca, which is one of several San Joaquin County communities the agency serves. After firing its CEO in February, RTD has seen multiple senior officials depart and key roles remain vacant, though the agency says nothing yet about how, or if, service levels will change.
