Police Investigate 'Accidental' Shotgun Shooting of 22-Year-Old in South Bay

Police are trying to determine if foul play was involved in the accidental shooting death of a 22-year-old on North Irena Avenue.

Redondo Beach police today were investigating the shooting death of a young man.

Officers went to the 800 block of North Irena Avenue at 11:05 p.m. Monday on a report of an accidental shooting, said Redondo Beach police Sgt. Fabian Saucedo.

“Upon arrival ... officers discovered a 22-year-old male deceased from a shotgun blast,” Saucedo said. “Based on the circumstances, the Redondo Beach Police Department has initiated an investigation to determine if foul play was involved.”

The man’s name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
