Power Outage Affects Thousands, Jams Traffic on Lincoln Boulevard
Thousands of Southern California Edison customers were without power in the Marina del Rey area.

Thousands of Southern California Edison customers were without power in the Marina del Rey area today, and there was no immediate estimate on when electricity would be restored.
The outage began about 11 a.m., initially knocking out power to about 4,400 customers, according to SCE spokesman David Song. By 1 p.m., power had been restored to about half of the customers, but 2,141 remained without electricity, he said.
Edison crews were still working to determine the cause.

Song said the outage was affecting customers south of Tahiti Way, between Via Marina and the Marina del Rey channel -- an area dominated by large apartment complexes.
Some heavy traffic was reported on Lincoln Boulevard due to traffic signals that were not functioning around the time the outage began.
