• Lafayette Burglary Suspect Arrested with a Stolen Vehicle in Walnut Creek (crimevoice.com) — Law enforcement recently searched a residence on Alhambra Way in Martinez while pursuing a Lafayette burglary suspect who ultimately was arrested in Walnut Creek. The Martinez resident is now being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on multiple burglary and related charges, following years of prior theft and vehicle convictions in Contra Costa County.
• Forum on TRUTH Act on Aug. 25 in Martinez or on Zoom or livestream (thepress.net) — Contra Costa County is holding its annual TRUTH Act community forum at the Board of Supervisors meeting in downtown Martinez on Tuesday, August 25, with in‑person, Zoom, and livestream options. Residents can hear 2025 data on immigration enforcement, ask questions of the Sheriff's Office, and submit comments in advance or during the meeting, with translation and closed captioning available.
• Waymo Just Took a Crucial Step Toward Self-Driving Cars in the 925 Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Martinez is now officially on Waymo's expanded map for future paid, driverless rides, as state regulators cleared the company to operate across much of Contra Costa County. Service won't start immediately, but residents may soon notice Waymo cars mapping local streets as the company gradually prepares to launch in Martinez and neighboring 925 communities.
