Antioch Shooting Suspects Plead Not Guilty In Court

Jess Swanson is accused in the fatal shooting of resident Joshua Jacobson; Freddie Hollman faces attempted murder charges in a money fight.

MARTINEZ - Two men, accused of murder and attempted murder in Antioch, pleaded not guilty to their charges Tuesday in separate Martinez court appearances.

Jess Swanson, 49, is facing a murder charge as well as a felon in possession of a firearm charge, plus enhancements, for the Sept. 8 fatal shooting of 32-year-old Antioch resident Joshua Jacobson in September. He pleaded not guilty to the murder in court.

Police found Jacobson suffering from a gunshot wound in the 400 block of San Joaquin Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. that day after hearing reports of gunshots and screams.

Swanson was identified as a suspect and arrested a week later by the U.S. Marshal’s Service at an Antioch residence in the 2800 block of Bonita Avenue.

Police said that Sunny Jacobson, 41, was also taken into custody on a single count of conspiracy after the fact. An update on that case was not immediately available.

Swanson is due back in court on Feb. 23.

Also on Tuesday, Freddie Hollman, 45, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a 50-year-old man several times on June 15, according to Antioch police.

The victim was found suffering multiple gunshot wounds at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Gentrytown Drive that afternoon, police said.

The victim underwent surgery at a hospital and survived.

Hollman, who lived at the same apartment complex, is accused of taking out a gun and shooting the man during an argument regarding money, police said.

Hollman’s next scheduled court appearance is on Feb. 9 in Martinez.
