Authorities ID Martinez Woman Fatally Struck By Amtrak Train

BREAKING: The fatal collision occurred Sunday in Martinez.

MARTINEZ, CA — A woman who died after being hit by an Amtrak train Sunday morning in Martinez has been identified by Contra Costa County coroner's officials as 53-year-old Martinez resident Dori Garner. Garner was hit by Train 733, a Capitol Corridor train, at about 11:45 a.m. as the train was on its way to Oakland from Sacramento, Amtrak spokeswoman Christina Leeds said.

Garner was allegedly trespassing on the tracks near the Almar Marina at 7 N. Court St. in Martinez when she was hit.

Martinez police said the Ferry Street crossing was closed for nearly two hours Sunday as the Contra Costa Regional Traffic Team — composed of investigators from the Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek and San Ramon police departments — responded to investigate the fatal collision.
