Business of the Year — Les Schwab Tire Center

Five years in Martinez equals five years of benefits to the community.

In March, Les Schwab Tire Center celebrated five years at its Alhambra Avenue location. In that time, the business has been increasingly involved in the Martinez community, including the and

“We’re also a big supporter of (Martinez) schools, says Manager Dwayne Glemser. “We do a every year in May.” This year’s car show, which will be the fifth, will be on May 15 at the Tire Center. Since the first show, 100 percent of the profits go to the , typically $3,000 to $4,000 per year. The business supports more than the schools. A quick look at its website shows more than 30 organizations and causes that it supports.

“Even though we are a town of 36,000 people, it still feels like a small hometown environment where you can still feel like part of the community,” Glemser said.  “As a company, we came here because we wanted to expand. We’re still a family owned company that thrives in a small-town atmosphere. When we saw Martinez and what it is, it just fit the mold.”
