Do Not Be Alarmed If You See Refinery 'Flaring' Over Next Several Days

As part of its planned maintenance shutdown, Tesoro Refinery is notifying nearby residents to expect visibly increased flaring over the next several days.

“Flaring” refers to the flames residents may see from a distance, and it is the standard and safe way to handle emissions during a shutdown.

Tesoro does not expect any odors or loud noise during the flaring, but residents may call (925) 228-1220 should they have specific questions or concerns.

Tesoro will ask for the caller’s information (name, address and phone number) so that it can investigate thoroughly and report directly back to the caller.

Tesoro apologizes in advance for any disturbances and is working to minimize any and all impacts during this maintenance period.
