Early-Morning Disturbance Escalates To Chase, Arrest

An early-morning disturbance led to an arrest after a slow-speed chase in Antioch.

ANTIOCH, CA —Antioch police arrested a Pittsburg man after a slow-speed pursuit that followed a reported neighborhood disturbance and ended in officers flattening the man’s tires.

A neighbor called police at 4:17 a.m. to the 800 block of L Street, reporting a man who knocked on a resident’s door and told the occupants they did not live there.

Jesse Cheroti, 35, of Pittsburg, returned to his vehicle, honked repeatedly, and drove in circles.
Police tried to stop Cheroti, who refused to yield and instead slowly drove away. After finally stopping, he made verbal threats at officers and tried to flee again.

Officers used a tire deflation device and boxed in the vehicle, taking Cheroti into custody.

He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, threats against a public officer, evading a peace officer, and driving under the influence of drugs.
