Contra Costa County Genealogical Society Meeting

Come hear Martha Whittaker speak on the Topic: “Sutro

Library.”  She will give an overview of the

Sutro Library genealogy collection, perhaps the

largest west of Salt Lake City. The collection

focuses on the forty-nine states other than

California, with some foreign material.

California items include large runs of city

directories, a few county histories, and some

transcribed vital records from a few

counties. There will be handouts on subject

searching in library catalogs, search tips for the

California State Library catalog, brief overviews

of various ethnic holdings in the library, and a

list with one highlighted title for each state.
