Imagine A Day Without Water: Awareness Campaign Launches In District
Central San reminds residents how precious the resource is. Imagine no water to flush a toilet, do laundry, fight fires ... [Breaking]

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – The Central Contra Costa Sanitary District today joins thousands of drinking water and wastewater providers, community leaders, businesses, policy experts, advocacy organizations and infrastructure experts participating in “Imagine a Day Without Water.”
Organized by the Value of Water Coalition, the goal of this campaign is to increase awareness about the water and wastewater infrastructure crisis facing California and the rest of the United States.
“An investment in our drinking water and wastewater systems is essential to securing a bright and prosperous future for generations to come,” said Emily Barnett, Central San’s spokesperson. “We're thrilled to be joining the ‘Imagine a Day Without Water’ campaign. Most people take for granted that when they turn on the tap or flush the toilet, water and wastewater systems function exactly as they are supposed to. But those systems are aging. Agencies need to invest in infrastructure upgrades to prevent days without water from becoming a reality.”

Public attention on infrastructure typically focuses on the things people see every day, like roads, bridges, and tunnels. Yet the hidden infrastructure that reliably brings water to homes and businesses, and takes it away after it has been used, is actually far more vast, and in many cases much older, than our highway system.
Without further investments, these systems may experience more frequent failures and disruptions as agencies try to keep up with the needs of growing populations they serve.
