Latest East Bay Shooting Reported On I-80 In Hercules

HERCULES - The California Highway Patrol this morning is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday night on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Hercules.

A victim was struck in the leg by gunfire, according to the CHP.

The shooting was reported at 9:16 p.m. on the highway just west of state Highway 4, according to the CHP.

Details on the victim's condition were not immediately available.

The CHP issued a Sig-alert for eastbound Interstate Highway 80 at 9:37 p.m. due to police activity. Two eastbound lanes were closed just west of state Highway 4, and four lanes were closed at Pinole Valley Road.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet El Camino with tinted windows, according to the CHP.

The shooting is the latest in a series of roughly 20 that have occurred on East Bay highways since November.
