Mosquito Fogging Operation Targets Martinez Riverfront
The riverfront is being fogged on Friday between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

A two-day mosquito fogging operation will target West Nile virus transmitters in two areas of Pittsburg and a part of Martinez this week, Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District officials said.
The Martinez area that’s going to be treated is bordered on the north by the Carquinez Strait, on the east by Pacheco Creek, on the south by Marina Vista Avenue and Waterfront Road, and on the west by Carquinez Scenic Drive.

The riverfront is being fogged on Friday between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Two separate areas of Pittsburg will be treated on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Friday from 12 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.

One of the areas is bordered on the north by Highway 4, on the east by Dover Way and Orinda Circle, on the south by Delta View Golf Club, and on the west by Sugartree and Santa Maria drives.
The area features a golf course that has been treated multiple times as well as Rancho Medanos Junior High School.
The other area is bordered on the north by West Leland Road, on the east by Woodhill Drive, on the south by Hanauma Bay Drive, and on the west by West Barranca Drive. It is primarily residential.
In Contra Costa County this year, eight groups of mosquitoes, 17 sentinel chickens and 11 dead birds tested positive for the virus.
According to a California Department of Public Health website, there has also been a symptomatic human case reported in the county.
There were seven cases of West Nile virus reported in the county last year, according to the website. People can develop West Nile virus infections through just one mosquito bite.
The virus may cause fevers, headaches and body aches, and in some rare cases, neurological damage or death.
