Mt. Diablo From Diablo Foothills Regional Park: Photo Of The Day

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Patch reader Randy Garber captured this striking image of Mount Diablo on a clear, crisp winter day, looking east from Diablo Foothills Regional Park. In addition to panoramic views of the mountain and its surroundings, the park of 1,060 acres has interesting geologic features, wildflowers in season, and a variety of bird and animal life.
According to California State Parks, one can see almost 200 miles from the summit of Mount Diablo when conditions are best. Summer days are sometimes hazy, and the best viewing is often on the day after a winter storm. Then, one can look to the west, beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Farallon Islands. All in all, one can see over 8,539 square miles and parts of 40 of California's 58 counties from the summit of Mount Diablo.
Thanks so much for sharing your photo, Randy!
