• Chancellor Mehdizadeh retiring from Contra Costa Community College District (pleasantonweekly.com) — Leadership at the Contra Costa Community College District, headquartered in downtown Martinez, is changing as Chancellor Mojdeh Mehdizadeh retires at year's end and executive vice chancellor Micaela Ochoa steps in as interim chancellor. The board has already approved Ochoa's contract and will launch a search for a permanent leader this spring, shaping how local colleges serving Martinez students are run.
   

• CHP Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Motorcyclist (contracosta.news) — A fatal three-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 4 in Concord left a motorcyclist dead Monday afternoon, and investigators are asking witnesses to contact the CHP's Contra Costa Area office in Martinez. The collision involved a Volkswagen Jetta and Toyota Tundra, with no other injuries reported and no immediate signs of alcohol or drug involvement, though the investigation remains ongoing.
