'Pimp' From Contra Costa Sentenced For Trafficking Of Minor
The man went to Napa to "pick up a female," who, he told officials, could "make him at least $1,000 per day."

NAPA COUNTY, CA – A 22-year-old man from Antioch, who admitted to investigators to being "a pimp," was sentenced today to six years and four months in state prison for felony human trafficking, Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley said today.
Jaquian Iscell Burton, convicted in Napa County in July for felony pandering and human trafficking of a minor, was busted in March in an undercover operation as he went to Napa to "pick up a female," who, he told officials, could "make him at least $1,000 per day," the D.A.'s office said.
“This is the first human-trafficking-of-a-minor conviction in Napa County," Deputy District Attorney Taryn Hunter said. "If it was not for the proactive operation conducted by (Napa Special Investigations Bureau) and the countless hours of follow-up investigation by the detectives in this case, the minor victim may have never been identified."

Burton, an "admitted pimp" on probation for felony robbery in San Joaquin County, also attempted to recruit, via social media, a 16-year-old high school student in Kings County to work for him in the sex trade, prosecutors said, adding that he knew the girl was a minor, asking her not to tell friends or family about their communication.
Along with his jail term, Judge Francisca Tisher today ordered Burton to register as a sex offender.

"Hopefully (his) prison sentence and his future registration as a sex offender will deter him—and others—from trying to exploit any more victims,” Hunter said.
The Napa Special Investigations Bureau, NSIB, is a multi-agency task force that includes detectives from the Napa Police Department, Napa Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Napa County Probation
and the Napa County District Attorney’s Office. The Napa County District Attorney’s Office works in collaboration with NSIB to combat human trafficking in Napa County.
This is the fourth human trafficking case to resolve since the agencies have begun proactively pursuing human trafficking predators, the D.A.'s office said. Of the eight human trafficking cases presented to District Attorney Haley’s office for prosecution since 2016, three pleaded and accepted state prison sentences, two are pending in the court system, and two have outstanding arrest warrants, officials said.
