Meet Vegas, a black and white male pit bull terrier, available with no adoption fees this weekend at Contra Costa Animal Services.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – Vegas, a male, black and white pit bull terrier estimated to be about 10 months old, is among hundreds of cats and dogs available with fees waived through Sunday at Contra Costa County animal shelters.

The giveaway is intended to alleviate overcrowding at the county's shelters in Martinez and Pinole, a condition worsened by the onset of wet, cold weather, said animal services spokesman Steve Burdo.

You can find Vegas, who likes being outside and playing with people, in Kennel ADPT14 at the shelter, where he has been since Oct. 3.
