Viewfinder: Another masterpiece by Citrus Salon's Tessa Rangel.

Who needs to get their glamour on in SF when it's so easy to be beautiful in Martinez?

Rangel's passion for her craft shows with a dexterous sweep of her brush and her attention to every last detail finessed on her canvas, the female face.

Rangel, who once managed a MAC counter, does her magic at her longtime friend Candice Ferrogiaro's Citrus Salon on Main Street. She occupies the station opposite Ferrogiaro and not only is she a makeup artist but she styles and cuts many a coif. The Citrus duo have an easy relationship, quipping jokes back and forth while making their clients feel like part of an intimate social circle.

But it's what Rangel does with hair and makeup that really keeps clients coming back to her, even after the special events she's hired for.

Client Tamara Lin Shaputis, a San Francisco State theater major is one of Rangel's clients. She came to Martinez to primp for her headshots and this was her first time getting made up by a professional. "I feel so special" she said, adding "Wow, look at my eyes."  Rangel went for a dramatic look as Shaputis brought in a green camouflage minidress, combat boots and a gun pendant on a silver chain.

And just when Shaputis thought Rangel was done, Rangel, a perfectionist beckoned her back to the chair. "Something's not quite right", she said, going back over Shaputis' perfect green  eyeshadow.
