Your guide to what will be open and closed on the upcoming holidays.

Want to check out a book or some DVDs from the library during the rainy holiday weather? Don't count on it - the Martinez Library is closed for most of the holiday season. Want to have Christmas Eve dinner at a local restaurant? Some are open, some are not. Want to pay your water bill in person at City Hall? Not gonna happen.
Below is a list of government services and supermarkets and their status on Christmas Day. Below that is a list of Martinez restaurants that are open on Christmas Eve. Enjoy. And be safe.

- Banks: Most are closed.
- Post Office: Closed. No mail delivery.
- Groceries: Most major supermarkets are closed on Christmas; however, Lucky on Arnold Drive is open until 5 p.m.
- Sunvalley Mall: closed.
- Mass Transit: BART will run on a Sunday schedule. County Connection Buses have no service. For route information, call 925-676-7500 or go to http://cccta.org.
- Amtrak: Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
- Parking meters: Not enforced in Martinez. County parks will enforce meters unless noted on the meter.
- Schools: Public schools are closed.
- Public agencies: State and federal offices are closed. The City of Martinez is closed from noon Dec. 24 through January 4, 2011.
- Libraries: Closed.
- Recreation centers: Most are closed. Call for hours.
New Year's Day, January 1, 2011
- Banks: Most are closed.
- Post Office: Closed. No mail delivery.
- Groceries: Almost all are open. Safeway will be open at 6 a.m. New Year's Day.
- Sunvalley Mall: Open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m..
- Mass Transit: BART will run on a Sunday schedule. County Connection Buses have no service. For route information, call 925-676-7500 or go to http://cccta.org.
- Amtrak: Closed New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
