Where John Muir Took His Kids On Walks: Martinez Photo Of The Day

MARTINEZ, CA — Patch reader Randy Garber sent in this photo he took while hiking the Mount Wanda trail at John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez.
Mt. Wanda Park is just across Highway 4 from John Muir's home and is named after Muir's daughter, Wanda. According to the National Park Service, another nearby peak, Mt. Helen, is named after Muir's daughter Helen:
"Both girls accompanied their father on walks in the nearby hills, and Muir named two of the peaks Mt. Wanda and Mt. Helen."
To this day, it's still such a beautiful place to enjoy the serenity of nature. We're sure Muir would agree.
