• County calls for investigation into East L.A. oil spill (wavepublication.com) — Maywood is among several Southeast L.A. communities affected after a May 22 crude oil spill in East Los Angeles sent oil into the L.A. River, raising health and environmental concerns downstream. County supervisors have ordered an investigation, pledged to recover cleanup costs, and directed agencies to keep monitoring impacts, support residents and businesses, and ensure full remediation of the river and storm drains.
