📰 News we're reading

• What Fort Bragg Asked Chris Rogers (mendolocal.news) — Fort Bragg residents pressed Assemblymember Chris Rogers on issues that hit Mendocino County directly, from unfair road funding formulas and scarce rural housing dollars to sea-level threats at the mill site and seismic upgrades for the coastal hospital. Rogers outlined bills on campaign finance, rural health care, biomass-based jobs, and tax-sharing reforms, stressing how state policy can better serve Mendocino's small cities and coastline.

• Update: Boon Fire in Mendocino County remains 100% contained as of Saturday evening (sacbee.com) — A recent wildfire dubbed the Boon Fire burned 39.1 acres along Highway 253 in Mendocino County but is now reported 100% contained, meaning firefighters have fully lined the perimeter. Crews will keep monitoring and working the interior, so residents may still see smoke even though the blaze is no longer expected to spread.
