Community Meeting for Potential Polystyrene Ordinance

The City of Menlo Park is considering prohibiting the use of polystyrene food ware products from being distributed by food vendors by adopting San Mateo County’s food ware ordinance. This would result in a reduced amount of polystyrene litter from disposable food ware, which will help the City of Menlo Park to comply with State Stormwater Permits.

The public meetings will provide information about the County’s ordinance, implementation timeframe, and product alternatives. In addition, the meeting will provide a forum for the public to provide feedback about the potential adoption of this ordinance before it is considered by City Council. The feedback will be included in staff reports and discussions to City Council, and may be used to assist with minimizing immediate impacts to businesses or residents.

We are looking forward to hearing your concerns and aspirations about a potential polystyrene ordinance. Please RSVP by calling (650) 330-6740 or sending an email to Lina Prada-Báez at lmpradabaez@menlopark.org
