Guy Kawasaki, Venture Capitalist to Deliver Keynote Speech at Menlo College Commencement 

Guy Kawasaki, a venture capitalist and best-selling author, will deliver the keynote speech at the Menlo College Commencement on May 5, 2012. 

"I am very pleased that Guy Kawasaki, a leading Silicon Valley entrepreneur, will be our keynote speaker for commencement this year," said President James J. Kelly. "He has been instrumental in many startups and investments in early-stage technology companies. He's a charismatic writer and speaker who will inspire our graduates and guests."

Kawasaki is the author of eleven books including What the Plus!, Reality Check, The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries, How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, Selling the Dream, and The Macintosh Way. He is also the co-founder of Alltop.com, an "online magazine rack" of popular topics on the web, and a founding partner at Garage Technology Ventures. Previously, he was the chief evangelist of Apple. Kawasaki has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.

Kawasaki has been instrumental in several startups including a Macintosh database company called ACIUS, and a software company called Fog City Software. In the 1990s, he became an Apple fellow and a co-founder of Garage Technology Ventures, a venture capital firm that makes direct investments in early-stage technology companies.

Bud Adams, NFL Tennessee Titans Owner to Receive Honorary Doctorate at Menlo College Commencement 

Kenneth Stanley “Bud” Adams, Jr., ‘42, the powerful owner of the NFL Tennessee Titans, will be presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Business from Menlo College at the Commencement on Saturday, May 5. 

"Bud Adams is a legendary leader in the NFL and we are proud to honor our alumnus for his accomplishments at the Menlo College Commencement," said President James J. Kelly.

In his 53rd year as Founder, Owner, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of the Tennessee Titans NFL franchise, “Bud” Adams is an enduring figure in the National Football League. One of the original team owners in the American Football League, he has guided the Titans to new heights since relocating to Nashville in 1997, posting six playoff appearances, including an AFC Championship (1999), an AFC Central title (2000), two AFC South titles (2002, 2008), an AFC Championship appearance (2002), and Wild Card teams in 2003 and 2007.  He is one of only four recent NFL owners to reach the 350-win plateau. Consistently fielding winning teams, his team has earned 21 playoff appearances in 49 seasons, a total that ranks 5th among NFL teams since 1960.

Bud Adams puts great emphasis on high academic achievement. In 2002, Bud Adams, an alumnus from Menlo College’s class of 1942, established the K.S. Bud Adams Jr. Endowed Scholarship at Menlo, which provides assistance for nearly twenty Menlo students each year, based upon demonstrated leadership and character, service, academic achievement. This Honorary Doctorate in Business serves as a tribute to him as a leading champion of professional sports, and for his accomplishment in business. "Bud Adams is a legendary leader in the NFL and we are proud to honor our alumnus for his accomplishments at the Menlo College Commencement," said President James J. Kelly.
Menlo's Commencement is part of a celebration for graduates, their families and friends, and members of the Menlo community. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am in the Main Quad on campus.
