4. East Palo Alto plants seeds for a future urban forest (paloaltoonline.com) — East Palo Alto is ramping up a long-term push to grow its urban forest, aiming to close a big tree-canopy gap with nearby cities like Menlo Park and Palo Alto. Volunteers, schools, and nonprofits have already planted thousands of trees, and a new Urban Forest Master Plan sets ambitious canopy targets for coming decades while calling on residents to add more backyard trees.
