Free Steel Drum Concert & Party
The Menlo Park Library's Summer Kickoff Party will feature cool Caribbean rhythms, free snacks, and more for adults--and kids, too!
On Thursday, June 11, the Menlo Park Library will celebrate the onset of summer reading season with a free outdoor party, featuring music and snacks.
Derek Smith’s Pankind Quartet will play Caribbean-style music, while Café Zoe Menlo Park will provide snacks and beverages. Balloon-twisting and free bottles of bubbles will also be a part of the festivities.
The library’s annual Summer Reading Program kicks off on June 10, featuring games, prizes and programming for adults, teens, and children. Library staff will be at the celebration event on the 11th to share information about the programs, and the events, will which include a cooking demonstration, puppetry, storytelling, music, poetry, crafts, and a wildlife presentation.
The party will take place on Thursday, June 11 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., on the lawn outside the Menlo Park Library. Guests of all ages are welcome, and are invited to bring blankets or low lawn chairs to settle in & enjoy the musical performance. The festivities are sponsored by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library and Café Zoe Menlo Park. More information is available online at the library’s website, menlopark.org/library.
