UPDATED: Gas Leak Capped in Menlo Park
A shelter in place order was briefly in place Monday.

UPDATE:
Police have lifted a shelter in place order for residents near a gas leak that was reported earlier Monday morning.
Gas is no longer leaking in the 500 block of Laurel Street and PG&E crews remain on scene, according to police.

Around 4 a.m., police responded to a report of a gas leak, which was caused by a downed tree, police said. Police had initially asked residents who live in the 500 block of Laurel Street and the 500 block of Hopkins Street to shelter in place.
The 500 block of Laurel Street remains closed, however police estimate that at least one lane should be open to traffic by about 7:30 a.m.

A downed tree has caused a gas leak in the 500 block of Laurel Street, according to Menlo Park Police.
PGE and the Menlo Park Fire Department has been notified of the situation. Residents who live in the immediate area are asked to shelter in place and call 911 if there are any emergencies.
