M-A High School Boy's Soccer Team Advances to CCS Semi-Finals
Final score 2-1 for M-A against Santa Teresa in the CCS Quarterfinals.
The Menlo-Atherton Varsity Boy's Soccer Team lived up to expectations and advanced to the semi-final round of CCS play Saturday morning in Milipitas.
It was a fast paced game, against Santa Teresa High School, playing to M-As strengths. Final score against a defensively-skilled Santa Teresa team was 2-1.
Elvis Abarca Cervantes, a sophmore, once again showed his skill at set plays with a free kick to Captain Aaron Oro's head, who popped it in. The second goal was from another free kick, this time from center back Daniel Gill to Captain Will Cabral.
JP Nash was once again amazing in goal with a first half double save. In this authour's opinion, JP Nash was MVP of the game.
While Edgardo Molina did not add to his scoring total, he was double and triple teamed all game, he was instrumental in keeping the Santa Teresa team at only 1 goal as he showed his versatility (and smarts) by backing up into the right wing position to protect that side defensively.
Also commendable was the cool composure of the M-A team as the Santa Teresa became increasing frustrated in the last minutes (which seemed to go on forever). Six yellow cards were handed out during the game.
