Menlo 3, Pinewood 2

Teams narrowly escaped a tie.

The Menlo School boys’ soccer team defeated Pinewood with scrappy play, wrapping up a 3-2 West Bay Athletic League victory Friday.

When a draw seemed inevitable, junior Ryan Karle found the net off an assist from junior Max Parker with 90 seconds left in the match.

Menlo (5-1-3 overall , 2-1-1 WBAL-) struck first with sophomore John Strong scoring on a turn-and-strike sequence on an assist from senior Alec Drobac.

Menlo's second goal came courtesy of junior Parker on a short crossing ball to the penalty spot from Jackson Wagner.

Pinewood answered with consecutive goals within a 10-minute span to draw level.
