Menlo School Dismisses Scotts Valley

Knights to play Half Moon Bay in quarterfinals.

The Menlo boys' basketball team dismissed Scotts Valley 59-50 on Thursday in the second round of the Central Coast Section Div. IV playoffs in the nightcap of a doubleheader.

The No. 4-seeded Knights (18-7) will play No. 5 seed Half Moon Bay (21-5) in the quarterfinals at 6:15 p.m. at Menlo.

The teams were knotted at 27 by halftime, then pulled away late in the fourth quarter. Senior Freddy Avis contributed a team-high 13 points and sophomore Bobby Roth added 12 for the Knights who got points from nine players.

Menlo played Half Moon Bay in a non-league matchup in December and won 43-41.
