Resource Available to Find Local Giving Opportunities
GreatNonprofits has been called the Yelp of nonprofits.

GreatNonprofits is working to increase community engagement and local giving.
Today, while Bay Area residents live and work in a community with high intellectual capability, entrepreneurship and wealth, there is markedly low engagement with local philanthropy and civic society. And there is a high differential between those with wealth and without: for example in Silicon Valley alone, 1 in 4 residents live in poverty.
GreatNonprofits wants to help shift this tide by inspiring local companies, individuals and foundations to think about how they can engage locally and contribute, whether in time, money or thought leadership.

Last month, GreatNonprofits gathered key nonprofit executives—from Google.org, Code for America, the Sobrato Family Foundation, and the Center for Compassion, Altruism, Research and Education at Stanford--for the annual “Technology for Social Good”, presentation and panel discussion.
We believe GreatNonprofits, sometimes referred to as the Yelp of nonprofits, is uniquely positioned to shape these discussions. Since 2007, the Redwood City organization has offered a unique, free, easy to use platform that allows nonprofits all over the country to share real stories of the community they serve, so that donors and volunteers can best determine where to spend their time and money.
