We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring our clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, we help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. Over recent years, more and more families in San Mateo County have been thrust into poverty. From the COVID-19 pandemic, to increasing wealth inequality, to the impacts of inflation and the housing crisis, the financial pressures on our neighbors have grown. Through it all, Samaritan House has been here to help – keeping pace with the demand and opening up new possibilities for people living in poverty. The San Mateo Bridge will close for two weekends in October to allow construction crews to replace bridge decks and a cracked beam discovered two years ago. The bridge will be shut down  from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday on the weekends beginning Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. During the shutdown, Caltrans crews will remove and replace the bridge decks on the part of the span between the elevated segment and the trestles, along with a cracked beam discovered during a routine inspection in October 2010. Drivers will be urged to take alternate routes during the closures, including the Dumbarton Bridge and the Bay Bridge.
