Selby Lane and El Camino Real on Atherton Agenda
Atherton Transportation Committee to present report on safety issues concerning the intersection.

Atherton Public Works Director Mike Kashiwagi will present a report concerning the intersection of Selby and El Camino to the Atherton City Council at its regularly-scheduled meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Holbrook-Palmer Park Pavilion on Watkins Road.
The report will be introduced for review and comment by city council members by request of the Atherton Transportation Committee.
Cal Trans Senior Transportation Engineer Katie Yim presented a report about the possibility of a traffic signal to the Transportation Committee at its Nov. 13 meeting.
The site has been problematic for years. Numerous deaths and injuries have occurred there between pedestrians and moving vehicles and bicyclists and moving vehicles.
Despite six lanes of traffic, no crossing light exists at the intersection, which is near the Fifth Ave. and El Camino traffic light.
Last month, Atherton Mayor Bill Widmer strongly urged Caltrans to improve safety measures at the location.
