Singer Songwriter Nancy Cassidy to Perform in Menlo Park
Free concert on December 12 by popular Bay Area songstress
On Saturday, December 12, Palo Alto singer/songwriter Nancy Cassidy will perform at a free concert being presented by the Menlo Park Library, to take place at the Menlo Park City Council Chambers.
It’s been written that Nancy Cassidy shares “Janis Joplin’s bluesy approach to songwriting, Kate Wolf’s optimistic outlook, and Hank Williams’ earthiness.” Her 12 albums recorded to date have sold well over 2 million copies. Cassidy was first launched into national prominence with the success of her first series of CD’s entitled KidsSongs, written and recorded for young families. Her first recording in that series received a Gold Record, and one of the songs—“Chicken Lips and Lizard Hips—was recorded by Bruce Springsteen for the gold-record all-star album For Our Children, benefiting The Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Nancy’s December 12 performance in Menlo Park is aimed at the “13 to 103” age group, for a concert in which she promises to deliver American favorites from “Home on the Range” & “This Land is Your Land” to some of her best personal compositions, all delivered in her distinctively rich and honeyed voice.
The free performance by Nancy Cassidy is funded by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library, and will take place Saturday, December 12 at 11a.m. at the Menlo Park City Council Chambers, located at 701 Laurel Street. Refreshments will be served. For event details, visit the calendar at www.menlopark.org/library.
