'Suspicious Package' Prompts Brief Caltrain Evacuation, Bomb Squad Response to Menlo Park
Police were called out to the Peninsula station after a suspicious piece of luggage was found.
MENLO PARK, CA-Caltrain officials briefly evacuated a train at the Menlo Park station Monday afternoon because of a suspicious piece of luggage left on a train.
The incident was first reported at 3:05 p.m., according to Caltrain spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew.
Police responded to the scene to investigate. The bomb squad was also called out.

Bartholomew said Caltrain is taking all necessary precautions and that security is heightened this week because of the upcoming Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday.
Within an hour of the first report, police were able to determine that there was no threat, according to Caltrain officials.

“We’ve been given the all clear,” the agency tweeted at 3:52 p.m. ”152 will load at Menlo Park and get underway.”
Train number 152 was ultimately held up roughly 52 minutes.
