Victim ID'd In Deadly Peninsula Crash
Sheriff's officials previously said a Belmont man was behind the wheel of the vehicle that hit the victim.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — An 89-year-old Woodside man has been identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office following his death in a collision with a vehicle Thursday evening in San Carlos. Ernest Goldau died in the collision around 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Old County Read, near El Camino Real, according to officials.
The San Mateo County sheriff's office responded to the deadly scene, where they say Goldau was found lying in the roadway after being hit by a car.
"The man was being treated by paramedics but did not survive his injuries," sheriff's Det. Sal Zuno said.

A 70-year-old Belmont man was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla and "is fully cooperating with the investigation," Zuno said — adding that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the incident.
