Woodside Library to Close for Renovation Next Month

The library is scheduled to reopen in the spring of 2016.

The Woodside Library is set to begin a new chapter next month.On Aug. 1, the library will close for six to nine months for renovations, according to library officials.

The 46-year-old facility will undergo renovation in order to help expand the services and programs the library provides to the community, library officials said.

Planned improvements include an update of the building’s structural elements to bring it up to current codes and into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, seismic retrofitting and the replacement of the roof and restrooms.

Additionally, construction crews will reconfigure the existing layout to more effectively cater to the needs of residents, according to library officials.

The project is a collaborative effort between the San Mateo County Library Joint Powers Authority and the town of Woodside.

The two have been developing plans for the update since 2009, library officials said.

The library is expected to reopen in the spring of 2016.
