2 Teen Auto Burglars Nabbed In Millbrae, Sheriff's Office Says

Sheriff's officials say they caught the duo looking into the windows of cars with flashlights. One of the boys is just 14.

MILLBRAE, CA — Two boys — ages 17 and 14 — were arrested in Millbrae this week after police say they spotted them suspiciously peering into cars with flashlights. Once authorities caught up to the duo, they said they found indications the boys were up to no good.

It happened around 8:05 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of The Kitchen restaurant at 279 El Camino Real, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade. Sheriff's officials were conducting an "Auto Burglary Suppression" detail in the area.

"During the detail, the personnel observed two male subjects peering into cars with flashlights..." she said. "The subjects then ran to a vehicle that was parked in an alley way."

Sheriff's officials said a unit stopped the vehicle as it was traveling away and detained a 17-year-old boy from San Francisco and a 14-year-old boy from South San Francisco.

Blankswade said that "during a search, burglary tools, marijuana packaged for sales, and broken glass was found inside the vehicle."
