CA Lifts Shelter-In-Place Order, San Mateo County, Millbrae Moves To Purple Tier
The State of California announced today (Monday, January 25, 2021) that it has lifted the shelter-in-place order for San Mateo County.

The State of California announced today (Monday, January 25, 2021) that it has lifted the shelter-in-place order for San Mateo County (SMC). The lifting of the order moves SMC into the less restrictive purple tier on the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

Under the purple tier, most businesses are allowed to operate outdoors with modifications. Some businesses such as amusement parks, bars, breweries, and distilleries must remain closed. Shopping malls and specialty retail must operate at no more than 25% capacity. Grocery stores must operate at no more than 50% capacity.

• Restaurants – outdoors only with modifications, takeout and delivery open with modifications
• Most Retail and Shopping Centers – indoors with modifications, closed common areas, max 25% capacity
• Hair Salons, Barbershops, Personal Care Services – open with modifications
• Movie Theaters, Gyms and Fitness Centers, Museums, Zoos and Aquariums – outdoor only with modifications
• Places of Worship – outdoor only with modifications
• Offices Spaces for Non-Essential Workers – remote only

State officials stated the shelter-in-place order was lifted because 4-week ICU projections are above 15% availability. As of Sunday, January 24, 2021, San Mateo County Health has reported 34,294 total cases of COVID-19. 340 people have died in SMC because of COVID-19.
