Death of Millbrae

Speeding, and reckless traffic on Millbrae Ave. is getting worse and worse!  7 am the cars go in a constant stream down Millbrae Avenue at a frantic pace. The cars barely have space between them, so it is obvious that they are running stop signs too. 3 pm, the speedway is again inhabited by drivers rushing home to enjoy their lives, while endangering ours! People ride bikes up and down the street, children walk to school. The elderly and handicapped walk along the street too! One day, I saw a Sheriff's officer stop and interrogate a man who is handicapped. I was concerned, because I knew the man from the neighborhood, and wanted to be certain he had protection from any misunderstanding by the officer. I spoke to him and the officer asked if I knew him. "Yes", I said, "he is a neighbor, and walks up and down this street every day." I knew, because it is MY neighborhood, and I have its best interest at heart! (which is more than be said about our city government, who refuse to do ANYTHING to make our community safe!) I keep wondering why Millbrae Ave is suddenly so busy in the morning and evening commutes. The people who drive the street at those times, aren't invested in the safety of our neighbors, but they need to be awakened to the danger they are creating for us, and those who live around us! People think of our street as just another highway, when in fact, it is a 20-25 mph residential street! Why then, after numerous complaints, examples of the road conditions, accidents, and close calls, has the City of Millbrae REFUSED to make the street SAFE? I know that some of the city officials just "phone it in" and are merely collecting a paycheck, but my question is: WHY DO WE ALLOW THAT TO GO ON? Dead wood MUST be REMOVED! We are watching the Death of Millbrae, right before our eyes! It is THAT serious! The city is being neglected down to not even enforcing dangerous speeding areas! It is a FREE FOR ALL! Between businesses closing, SFO torturing us endlessly, while they take on new airlines, making it an even busier place than before, and we are breathing in more, and more deadly pollutants of theirs, we are the victims! (And why won't SFO implement ANY noise abatement procedures?) It is obvious that they are uncaring about us. We seem to be getting a LOT of that; even from our OWN CITY OFFICIALS! YET, only a small fraction of Millbrae residents drag themselves out to vote! WHY? Make your VOICE HEARD! VOTE, SPEAK UP! Stop city corruption, behind door deals, destruction of our health and sanity! The entire city management is letting us go down the tubes...while we still pay premium taxes! DOESN'T THAT MAKE YOU ANGRY?
