2018 HIP Housing Calendar
Kate Comfort-Harr, Executive Director of HIP Housing, and Bob George, former HIP Board of Directors member who lives in San Bruno, distributed copies of the 2018 Children’s Art Calendar to members of the San Bruno City Council and Staff at the Tuesday, December 12, Council meeting. She thanked the Council for its ongoing support of HIP Housing over the years and shared statistics specific to San Bruno illustrating HIP’s activity in the community.
The calendar features original artwork from elementary school children in San Mateo County who are invited to prepare a drawing or painting of their idea of home and write a statement on the meaning of home to them.
The submissions, which totaled over 350 this year, are judged by an independent jury which is asked to select 13 of the submissions for inclusion in the calendar. The artwork and statements for the 2018 calendar are the work of 1st through 5th grade students in Burlingame, Belmont, Foster City and San Mateo.
Next year, two other elementary school systems will be asked to submit their students’ work for the 2019 calendar.
Calendars are available directly from the HIP Housing office as part of the non-profit agency’s regular fund raising program.
